Learn To Row


Learn the fundamentals of the sport of rowing.

Learn-to-Row classes are held in May, June, and July at the Greater Dayton Rowing Association (GDRA) Boathouse at 104 E. Helena St., Dayton, Ohio.


Greater Dayton Rowing Association invites you to sign up for Learn To Row (LTR) starting on May 1. Our program is perfect for individuals with no rowing experience. Classes will be taught in quads (4-person boats) and progress to doubles (2-person boats) and finally singles (1-person boats).

Your course will be scheduled for six classes meeting for 2 hours at 10am on Saturday and Sunday for three weekends: May 1 & 2, 15 & 16, 22 & 23. The schedule may be adjusted in response to weather and water conditions. The cost will be $150 per person which includes club membership for the rest of the year.

GDRA will be following all State of Ohio COVID-19 protocols as well as our current club protocols for team boats. All instructors and fellow students will be fully vaccinated or have documented natural immunity.

How to Sign Up:

1) Email a copy of your vaccination card or positive PCR test (which counts as immune for 90 days after a PCR test and quarantine) to covid19@daytonrowing.org. No private information from your vaccination card will be distributed. We will not distribute any personal information other than the fact that you have been vaccinated or have natural immunity.

Saturday, June 5: Discover Rowing. FREE! Ages 18 years and up. Learn about boats, oars, basic body mechanics, how to get in a boat safely, and get on the water in a sweep or sculling boat. Pre-registration is required. Contact discover@daytonrowing.org
